Dra. (Sra.) Gloria Kwashi
La Dra. (Sra.) Gloria Ladi Kwashi es la esposa del actual obispo de Jos, Benjamin Argak Kwashi. Se casaron en 1983 y sirvieron en las iglesias rurales y urbanas antes de mudarse a Jos en 1992 cuando su esposo se convirtió en el tercer obispo de la diócesis, y luego sirvió durante diez años como arzobispo de la provincia eclesiástica de Jos. La familia no es ajena a la persecución: como una pareja joven, su vicaría e iglesia fueron incendiadas en 1987; en Jos sufrieron horrendos ataques de asesinos a sueldo, pero para la gloria de Dios su ministerio no se ha visto sacudido y ha ido fortaleciéndose.
A Gloria le apasiona trabajar con mujeres y niños. Como esposa de un joven pastor, comenzó el Gremio de las Niñas, que ahora se ha extendido por muchas diócesis. Durante más de 25 años ha sido presidenta diocesana de la Unión de Madres, del Agrupación de Mujeres y del Agrupación de Niñas, y también es la Entrenadora Provincial para la Unión de Madres. Ella es una maestra experimentada y ha dirigido muchos retiros, particularmente para pastores y esposas de obispos.
Tiene una profunda preocupación por los huérfanos y los niños vulnerables y ella y su esposo ahora tienen cincuenta de esos niños que viven con ellos. También comenzó el Centro de Alcance y Cuidado Infantil Zambiri, con una escuela que ahora se ha convertido en una escuela primaria y secundaria con más de 400 alumnos, todos los cuales reciben educación gratuita, alimentación gratuita, uniforme y atención médica. Dr (Mrs) Gloria Ladi Kwashi is the wife of the present Bishop of Jos, Benjamin Argak Kwashi. They married in 1983 and served in both rural and urban churches before moving to Jos in 1992 when her husband became the third Bishop of the Diocese, subsequently serving for ten years as the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Jos. Gloria and her husband have six adult children.
The family are not strangers to persecution: as a young couple, their vicarage and church was burnt down in 1987; in Jos they suffered horrendous attacks from hired assassins, but to the glory of God their ministry has not been shaken and has gone from strength to strength.
Gloria has a passion for working with women and children. As a young pastor’s wife, she began the Girls’ Guild, which has now spread over many dioceses. For over 25 years she has been Diocesan President of the Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild, and is also the Provincial Trainer for the Mothers’ Union. She is an experienced teacher and has led many retreats, particularly for pastors’ and for bishops’ wives.
She has a deep concern for orphans and vulnerable children and she and her husband now have fifty such children living with them. She also began the Zambiri Outreach and Child Care Centre, with a school which has now grown into a primary and secondary school with over 400 pupils – all of whom receive free education, free feeding, uniform, and medical care.
